We’re delighted to share that ITV News recently visited one of our schemes we delivered with Southway Housing Trust & Rowlinson.
We were thrilled to learn that the café is run by women for whom English is their second language and who are not only serving delicious food but also using cooking as a means to improve their English proficiency—a heartening example of how innovative thinking can lead to positive outcomes.
In addition, the café has become a vital hub for the community, with elderly locals frequently visiting to socialise and enjoy the delicious food on offer. For 95% of these visitors, English is their first language, providing a valuable opportunity for volunteers to practice their language skills.
It’s great to see the positive impact the scheme is having on the community.
